The society dates back to 1877 and was organized for the purpose of the study and remembrance of Newbury's history. Today the Cushing House offers visitors a trip into Newburyport's past. A fine collection of local furnishings graces its rooms. WebThe latter of these dates was a substantial addition at 24 feet in length east of the chimney that included a second facade gable. In 1928 the house was moved to its present location where it now serves as a museum.
