WebJul 21, 2005 · Do not drive in to Monache unless you have a very rugged 4WD vehicle with very high clearance (14"+) and the ability to maneuver it and use it on the worst of terrain. When I first drove the Monache Meadows road, I was a BLM Ranger- i.e. spent 40 hours a week driving the worst roads the Mojave Desert has to offer.
