WebOct 26, 2024 · Nov 7, 2024. #1. Just installed my new i5 8400 and it seems to be running hot while gaming. Destiny 2 after 30 mins I hit 79 degrees. Thought maybe it didn't seat properly so I removed and put better Thermal paste on and it cooled down a little but not much, 30 mins after reseating I hit 75 degrees. I don't know if this is cause for concern or ... WebJun 26, 2008 · Temp difference between two, or gradient = TDP*theta or 4W*.35c/w or roughly 1.2C. Will actually be less than 1C with no heatink on. However at load with heatsink on, there can be a high gradient or difference between tcase and die temps (tjmax), for example TDP of 50W*.35 = 17C (max rated load TD power E8400 = 65W).

My temps were the same on XP, it used to sit in the early 30's now they close to the 40's like yours... WebStock cooler is fine for the 8400, some people just have bad air flow, or their ambient temperatures are very high which makes a huge difference with the stock heatsink.
